STA143: ’ASK TIM: REHAB SPECIAL’ with special guest Tim Allardyce

First Tuesday of a new month, so we bring you once again our regular series ‘Ask Tim’, recorded as always LIVE on the Sports Therapy Association Youtube Channel. In this episode, a REHAB EXERCISE SPECIAL, Tim Allardyce, founder of Rehab My Patient clinical software, Group Clinical Director and NHS England Clinical Entrepreneur, answers YOUR questions on anything to do with Rehab Exercise Prescription. This episode includes some excellent visuals using Rehab My Patient Software so we recommend you check out the video on the Sports Therapy Association YouTube channel.

Despite Tim's protests (modest chap that he is), we organised this Rehab Special episode as it coincides with the release of a brand new 'Strength & Conditioning' section in Rehab My Patient Clinic Software. Though Tim from the outset points out that other exercise prescription software is out there and available, this new section within Rehab My Patient contains almost 1000 exercises including plyometrics, TRX, Olympic lifting and much more, adding to an already very popular software tool for Soft Tissue Therapists.

If you have questions for future episodes of 'Ask Tim', email host Matt Phillips at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., OR come join us LIVE on the first Tuesday of the month and ASK TIM yourself, face to face!

What's happening in the rest of April?

In Ep144, Ep145 and Ep146, our focus will be on CPD Courses currently available online or face-to-face in the UK. We start APRIL 11th with guest Dr Gary Mendoza, Director of Stages of Change, discussing his online course 'Behaviour Change & Motivational Interviewing'. Gary will be joined by recent course completers Stephanie Hibberd & Tracey Taylor.

Topics in this episode of 'Ask Tim':

  • 0:00 Intro
  • 6:00 Welcome Tim Allardyce
  • 9:19 - Ask Tim Q1: In a year where money is going to be as tight as ever, is investing in exercise prescription software a bold move?
  • 20:22 - Ask Tim Q2: How easy is it on clinic software to indicate regression & progression options for clients?
  • 29:54 - Ask Tim Q3: I am a firm believer in making exercise fun. How much fun is a printed out list of exercises? =
  • 34:30 - Ask Tim Q4: Hey Tim, really happy to see the new S&C section in RMP. How did you decide what to put in the Functional Exercise section and what to leave out?
  • 40:59 - Live Question: What is the best way of using Template Prescriptions in Rehab My Patient Software?
  • 46:50 - Ask Tim Q5: I’m reading a lot these days people saying reps and sets don’t really matter. As long as you reach fatigue the body will get stronger. What are your beliefs on reps and sets?
  • 52:00 - Ask Tim Q6: (emailed in by Alex Moore last month) I’m in the process of looking for a new venue to use a Pilates studio with a treatment room built in. I have potentially found somewhere, but I am unsure what to do in regards to negotiation of the lease. There is quite a bit of work that needs doing to get it up to standard. I was just wondering if there was any advice in regards to types of lease and how you could negotiate it.
