In Ep.213 of the Sports Therapy Association Podcast: ‘Women In Sports Therapy (WIST) Is back!’ host Matt Phillips of Runchatlive.com is joined by the new voices of the ‘Women In Sports Therapy' podcast & community:
• Sonia Fierro - Founder of Recover Stronger
• Gemma Puzas -  Owner & Manager of CoreFit Health
• Sara Packard - Founder of founder of Fitness Therapy for You.

Sonia Fierro was sadly not able to join Gemma & Sara for this episode due to unforseen child care care issues (a perfect example of what particularly women in Sports Therapy have to deal with!), but the good news is Sonia & Gemma will be presenting a ‘Women In Sports Therapy Q&A Session’ on Day 1 of Therapy Expo this November, at 10.15am in the STA Theatre, directly after Michelle Lyons (special guest in STA Podcast Ep.201) delivers her Q&A session on 'Muscles and Tendons - Menstrual, Maternal & Menopausal influences’.

In this episode, Gemma & Sarah discuss their diverse backgrounds, their passion for supporting women in the sports therapy industry, and their plans for the WIST community. They highlight the importance of addressing women's health issues, creating a supportive network, and providing emotional support for female therapists. A hugely insightful episode discussing the challenges and goals of women in sports therapy and how the WIST community aims to provide support and advocacy for female therapists. Ep.211 'Limb-itless Expedition World Record' with guests Rich Potter and Richard 'Dickie' Davies

YouTube Button for Podcast page  Spotify Podcasts  Apple Podcasts  Google Podcasts Pocket Casts

Rich Potter and Richard 'Dickie' Davies are both below knee amputees as a result of complex traumas, leading to Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. In this episode of the Sports Therapy Association Podcast, they share their extraordinary journey as they prepare to take on the most difficult trek in the world: the Snowman Trek in the Himalayas. Their 'Limbitless Expedition' challenge commences this October: 11 mountain passes at altitudes of over 5,500m, with Rich & Rich aiming to cover the 200 miles in less than 40 days, led by guides from Breathe Bhutan.

We are also joined by Carla Bickerstaffe of Carla Bickerstaffe Sports Massage and Jenny Lane of Jenny Lane Sports Massage Therapy who talk about their time working with Rich & Rich, including at the Invictus Games, a international multi-sport event first held in 2014, for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans.

Diving into both the physical and mental challenges Rich & Rich face, this episode reveals their preparation strategies, and the invaluable support from their therapists. We also hear about the charitable causes they are supporting through their expedition: the Royal British Legion and Blesma, The Limbless Veterans charity, who offer support, advice, and camaraderie to limbless and injured veterans and service personnel as they rebuild their lives.

Join us as we explore their inspiring stories of resilience, teamwork, and the quest to set a world record. For those moved by their journey, we provide information on how you can support their cause through the Just Giving pages.  Don't miss this powerful and uplifting episode!

STA208 'Statutory Regulation For Sports Therapists?' Matt Phillips, Gary Benson, Anna Maria Mazzieri

YouTube Button for Podcast page  Spotify Podcasts  Apple Podcasts  Google Podcasts Pocket Casts

Do you think Statutory Regulation for Sports Therapists is something we should be trying to acheive for our industry? What are the pros and cons? Is it something we should strive for, or is it a pipe dream that could never really be achieved even if we wanted it?

In Ep.208 of the Sports Therapy Association Podcast, host Matt Phillips of Runchatlive.com is joined by Gary Benson, founder of the STA, and Anna Maria Mazzieri, Director of TheSTSchool, to discuss the topic of Statutory Regulation for Sports Therapists.

This episode was sparked by the information given on a recent post from the Society of Sports Therapists (SST) suggesting that "with a new government, this might finally push through this vital regulation." Gary Benson presents historic evidence showing that it is highly unlikely Sports Therapy will be considered for statutory regultation any time soon. Anna Maria Mazzieri argues that although standardisation of training & practice is something our industry needs, statutory regulation is not needed to achieve it.

The episode also highlights issues caused by misinformation from professional associations in the public domain, and clashes due to conflicting interests. An invite is offered to representatives from the SST and STO to be guests on a future Part 2 of the podcast.
