Ep.56 'Back Pain Special' with guest Rob Beaven
Lower back pain is an extremely common condition, and although there are many resources out there designed to provide sufferers with relief, help or clarity, much of the advice is far from evidence informed. In Ep.56 of the Sports Therapy Association Podcast, our special guest is Rob Beaven, chiropractor and co-host of The Back Pain Podcast.
Rob was so fed up with the amount of misinformation out there regarding the causes & treatment of back pain that when fellow chiropractor Dave Elliott asked him to be a co-host on a 'Back Pain' podcast' he absolutely jumped at the chance. The 'Back Pain Podcast' has become a hugely important resource for quality information regarding back pain.
In Ep.56 of the Sports Therapy Association Podcast, host Matt Phillips of Runchatlive asks Rob to share five common misconceptions regarding lower back pain. The discussion that pursues focusses on the following areas:
• Misalignment
• Posture
• Using MRI to diagnose
• Pain equals damage
• Core Strength
Rob comments on where the misinformation comes from, why it hangs around, and how we as soft tissue therapists can improve our ability to help patients & clients by keeping both us and them informed.
